The SMF offers a programme of internships to highly motivated individuals seeking work experience in a public policy environment. Internships at the SMF are unpaid positions (travel expenses only), normally lasting for between six weeks and three months, and would be best suited for those who have just completed university or post-graduate studies, though we do consider applications from all backgrounds.
We aim to provide our interns with a balanced work experience during their time at the SMF, and you will normally be involved in at least one major project, in addition to providing research assistance to our regular researchers and assisting in general think tank administrative duties.
The SMF internship programme is currently booked up until October 2008. If you are interested in an internship after that date then please contact Simon Griffiths.
To apply for an internship, please e-mail your CV to Simon Griffiths at sgriffiths@smf.co.uk. You should also attach a brief covering letter, outlining why you would like work experience in a public policy environment. Please remember to include when and for how long you are available for placement.
In addition, we are also offering one Event Internship to assist with the SMF’s full and varied programme of events. The SMF holds at least two events per month and the event intern can expect to be involved in all aspects of planning and delivery including attending on the day. The internship will involve database work and research on relevant topics, organisations and speakers. Our events programme is popular and highly respected and would provide excellent experience.
If you are interested in this role, please email a CV and covering letter to Kirstine Roberts at kroberts@smf.co.uk clearly marked 'Event Internship'.
