In this speech to the Social Market Foundation, Lord Andrew Tyrie outlined the changes the CMA is seeking in its remit and powers, and set out his thoughts on the role of economic regulators in the current economic and political climate. In particular, he highlighted reforms to bolster the competition and consumer protection regimes.
Under Lord Tyrie’s leadership, the CMA has been at the heart of some of the biggest economic debates of recent times and the SMF was delighted to host him for this speech.
The session was chaired by James Kirkup, SMF Director and author of a recent paper on the reform of economic regulators.
